Alameda Towne Centre Update
Alameda Towne Centre is undergoing some long overdue updates. The place badly needed an infusion of new stores and some freshening up to make it more appealing. These changes appear to be working, it is good to see folks voting with their wallets at Trader Joe’s and the new Safeway.
The new 24-hour Walgreens is expected to open by Halloween.
Bed Bath and Beyond is slated to open by July/August 2007.
A Target (Tar-zhay?) store is proposed on the west side of the Towne Centre, to replace the now vacant Safeway. Other proposals include a parking garage and two new restaurants along Shoreline Drive. I don’t know what is going to become of the vacant Albertsons.
The draft EIR for the proposed renovation has additional details.
